Pilates & Scoliosis - Part I

Class Description:
This one-day intensive is designed to provide anatomical and biomechanical information that can be utilized to try to decrease the asymmetries associated with scoliosis. Preliminary research suggests that rotation is key to effective interventions for scoliosis, and participants will perform strengthening exercises focusing not only on countering the lateral asymmetries, but also the rotational asymmetries associated with scoliosis. These novel exercises will utilize elastic bands, the Reformer, Cadillac, and Spine Corrector. Participants will also learn cueing techniques for key classical Pilates exercises and activities of daily living designed to enhance symmetry and more desired spinal mechanics.
