Using Pilates Rehabilitative Methodology to Treat Hypermobility & Scoliosis
Category: Other
INSTRUCTOR: Suzanne Martin, PT, DPT
Class Description:
Affecting 1-2% of the population, mostly women have significant scoliosis. Hypermobility is a poorly understood condition, whose diagnosis is often missed by traditional imaging techniques. Presented by Suzanne Martin, MA, PT, DPT, this course is designed to address the growing need for physical therapists to expand their practice potential into the care of those with scoliosis and the only-recently understood dysfunctions associated with hypermobility. The Pilates methodology, especially when combined with physical therapy, is well-suited to help with the dilemma of pain and dysfunction associated with populations who have scoliosis and hypermobility. Learn how to identify the differences between and management of functional versus structural scoliosis, their varying causes
and what you can do to intervene utilizing the Pilates Method of rehabilitation and management.
