Healthy Shoulders - Part 1
Category: Pilates
INSTRUCTOR: Kelly Kane
Class Description:
For Pilates teachers have an understanding of healthy shoulder mechanics
is primary in promoting strong, stable shoulders, particularly when working
with shoulders that are compromised in some way. In this course we will
look at the anatomy of biomechanics of the shoulder. We will define neutral
scapular positioning and look at healthy and not so healthy movement at
the scapulo-thoracic articulation and the glenohumeral joint. We will drive
normal scapulo-humeral rhythm and define partho-mechanics of the
shoulder. Our primary focus will be to translate our understanding of the
anatomy and mechanics to the three dimensional human form.
