PRE-CONFERENCE - April 11 - 12

Pilates & the Dynamic Psoas
2-Day Pre-Conference Intensive

April 11 & 12— 8am to 5pm

Transform your practice and your teaching!  Take the plunge into the “intelligence” of your fluid core with Wendy and Liz, each with over 30 years of pioneering work in somatic core awareness.  Merging Liz’s Iliopsoas work with Wendy’s  CoreConnections®Pilates Myofascial Body Mapping perspective, this workshop is a must for movement teachers who want to profoundly energize their personal practice, as well as their teaching.

We will explore Pilates movements beyond the bio-mechanical, agonist-antagonist, compression model to a bio-intellingent, integrated/synergistic, full body matrix model.  This revolutionary perspective will enable you to access a deep somatic intelligence, while exploring the joy of effortless, flowing movement, held in the “embracing arms” of gravity!

Course Objectives:

1.  To identify and describe the Core Connections® Pilates Myofascial Body Mapping Perspective of Lower, Central and Upper Cores, from the feet to the cranial base, and how they contribute to movement and core awareness

2.  To identify and describe the placement and function of the Iliopsoas as a dynamic support for the body’s core

3.  To show how balancing myofascial relationships and weight evenly around the spine contributes to core awareness, balance, and power

4.  To encourage a dialog with Pilates teachers around softening and widening the navel to spine scoop with full body breath

5.  To have Pilates teachers experience the Pilates repertoire from an inquiring perspective and learn how to support a dysfunctional psoas

iConference FAQS

Class Selection is "real time", meaning that you are able to immediately see the selections that you have made for classes and print a confirmation of your class schedule.  You can also log-in at any time and make changes to your schedule.  CLASS SELECTION STARTS SEPTEMBER 1, 2006.

Catalogs will be mailed in September.  If you would like a catalog sent to you, please enter your information in our guestbook on our home page.

Mail, Phone or Fax - When you mail, phone or fax your registrations they will be manually input in the order in which they arrive in our offices.  Phone orders can be called in during Monday - Wednesday from 9am to 4pm PST. We recommend that you use our on-line system since this is the fastest way to guarantee your early placement in classes.  THIS STARTS SEPTEMBER 1st.

Observation of Classes - Due to the size of rooms we do not have areas for class observation.  It is our goal to make this a quality event with classrooms that are filled only to the maximum of allowed participants.

Equipment Classes - Class sessions with equipment will be filled as follows:  Three students per reformer, spine corrector, ladder barrel, chairs, and wall-units/towers. Four per piece of Gyrotonic
® equipment.

Workout Classes - Morning & Evening "workout" sessions (Sessions 1 & 4) will be limited to one equipment "workout" per attendee during the 3-day conference.  This way everyone should have a chance to experience an equipment "workout".  There are plenty of floor work classes being offered but only so much equipment available.  You can attend any "workshop" equipment sessions (Sessions 2 & 3) during the conference.  Please understand that your schedule will be adjusted if you sign up for more than one equipment workout session.

Class Schedules - Please be aware that once you register there is no guarantee that there will be availability in specific classes.  Classes are filled on a "first come, first serve" basis.  This especially applies to individuals that sign-up in the few months prior to the conference with the expectation of getting a specific class. We have a selection of over 250 classes, so there are plenty of great classes and wonderful presenters to choose from.

Cancelled Class Policy - Occasionally there is a situation where a class must be moved to a different time, day or cancelled altogether.  We will do our best to notify attendees in advance of these changes.  We will post changes on our website so attendees will be aware and able to make the appropriate changes to their schedules.
